1. Day (Sun / Thu): Arrival Havana
Welcome at the airport by your representative. Transfer to hotel. Dinner at own expense.

2. Day (Mon / Fri): Havana Colonial and the Flair of the 50`s
After breakfast experience a walking tour through Havana’s old town – UNESCO World heritage site – with its most important sights such as: Capitolio, Calle Obispo, Plaza de Armas, Castillo de la Fuerza Real, El Templete, Castillo de la Fuerza Real, Cathedral square. Taste a cocktail at Hemingway’s famous “Bodeguita del Medio”, see his working room at the Hotel Ambos Mundos. Lunch on the panoramic rooftop terrace of the Hotel Ambos Mundos. It is here, in room 511, where Hemingway wrote his famous novel “For Whom the Bell Tolls”. In the afternoon panoramic drive in American classic cars through the Havana of the 50s with the Revolution Square, Malecón, the legendary Hotel Nacional de Cuba and the residential district of Miramar with its splendid mansions along the Quinta Avenida. In the evening you may want to do an optional tour to attend the famous Tropicana show*

3. Day (Tue / Sat): Havana – Viñales – Las Terrazas
An early departure and drive along the Tobacco route, to Pinar del Río province. This includes a Panoramic tour through the Mogote Valley with its famous limestone rocks and the picturesque village of Viñales, where time has stood still. Visit a tobacco farmer who will explain you all about tobacco growing, followed by cocktail at the Mural de la Prehistoria – a painting on a cliff at the foot of the 617m high Sierra de Viñales. Continue to the sustainable community Las Terrazas in the Sierra del Rosario. Cuba’s first UNESCO sanctioned biosphere resort.

4. Day (Wed / Sun): Las Terrazas – Bay of pigs – Cienfuegos
Drive towards the centre of the island. Stop at the Cueva de los Peces in the Bay of Pigs. This environment was built through karst lagoons and a wide system of caves flooded with water. A variety of species of the local flora and fauna can be found here. You may have time to swim or go snorkelling. Continue to Cienfuegos inspired by French colonial architecture. Stroll over the main square to the nostalgic Terry Theatre where Caruso and Sarah Bernhardt performed once upon a time. Cocktail at the Moorish inspired “Palacio de Valle” on the peninsula Punta Gorda the former residential area with its typical wooden houses.

5. Day (Thu / Mon): Cienfuegos – Trinidad & Sugar Mill Valley – Trinidad
Visit of a tobacco factory in the morning. Cuban cigars are always rolled by hand. During your tour through the factory, you will observe the process and experience the skilled hands of the Torcedores (cigar rollers) while they produce the best cigars in the world. Drive along the panoramic road to Trinidad – UNESCO World heritage site with unique colonial architecture. Stroll through the cobblestone streets to the idyllic main square surrounded by the mansions of the former sugar barons. Visit of the Museo Municipal at the Palacio Cantero take a break at the rustic “Canchánchara” bar to taste the local honey liquor.
Lunch in a private restaurant (paladar), e.g. „El Dorado “in the historic centre or in “Bar Esguerra”.
In the afternoon the excursion takes you to the Sugar Mill Valley Valle de los Ingenios with the remains of small 19th century sugar mills, including warehouses, milling machinery, slave quarters and manor houses. Visit the hacienda Iznaga home of the former sugar barons Iznaga with its legendary slave tower. Enjoy the romantic night-life by listening to traditional music and dancing with the locals. Visit to the „Casa de la Trova “or the „Casa de la Música“near the main square.
Important: Cigar factories are closed in the afternoon, on Saturdays and Sundays, on public holidays, during plant closure and during the festival of cigars. Sometimes the factories are closed any other day without prior notice. In case the cigar factory cannot be visited Caribbean Tours will try to arrange an alternative program. If the city museum is closed another one will be visited. Climbing the slave tower at your own risk.

6. Day (Fri / Tue): Trinidad – Santa Clara – Remedios
Spectacular drive over the Escambray mountain range, passing Topes de Collantes towards the centre of the island to the historic city of Santa Clara, where Ché Guevara obtained his most important victory. Visit of the Ché Guevara mausoleum. Then drive to the small colonial town of Remedios with visit of the former sugar factory on the road between Remedios and Caibarien. Today it is a museum of its own excellence treating the subject of sugar. Not only will you gain a broad insight to the manufactory of sugar but also can you inspect six steam locomotives in very good condition. A must for all railway enthusiasts. Afterwards, stroll over the idyllic main square with the San Juan Bautista church (altar made of mahogany from the 16th century).
Important: The mausoleum of Ché Guevara is closed on Mondays and can be closed on other days without prior notice. Caribbean Tours assumes no guarantee for the opening times. However, the monumental memorial itself with an imposing statue of Ché alone is worth a visit.
Churches can be closed due to irregular opening times.

7. Day (Sat / Wed): Remedios – Varadero / Havana
Continue via Varadero around noon (for guests with a beach extension in Varadero) to the hotel or to the international airport in Havana (for guests who leave the country) or transfer to Cayo Santa María / Cayo Ensenachos (for guests with a beach extension on the Cayo’s.
Important: Mileage for the direct way to Havana. Via Varadero the mileage is about 430 km.
The transfer from Remedios to Cayo Santa María is included (in the morning of day 7). Later transfers to Havana airport or to Varadero or Santa Clara have to be paid separately (see transfer rates).
The connection to an international return flight cannot be guaranteed and is therefore not recommended on the same day, so it is advisable to book an additional night
